Meet Alex Hope
LLB, BA(Hons)

Experienced Employment Barrister

I have had extensive experience since 1998 in all aspects of employment law, including personal grievances, disciplinary meetings, ERA investigation meetings, restructuring advice, drafting employment agreements, challenges to the Employment Court and appeals to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.  With practical court skills in trial and appellate matters and a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution, I can resolve issues cost-effectively.

I represent clients in professional disciplinary hearings.
I also accept instructions to work as a mediator to help parties resolve their legal and law related issues.
I am available to do work on legal aid, where legal aid is available
I am Hamilton based, but much of my work can be carried out remotely.

Representing Te Reo Māori

I can represent clients wishing to speak Te Reo Māori in Courts or mediation.  I can conduct hearings in Te Reo Māori.

Background
On a personal level, I consider myself to be bi-cultural and bilingual.  I am a fluent speaker of Te Reo M
āori and use Māori at home and at work.
